Reflection:
I have taken Spanish before in 9th grade, and I downloaded Duolingo one night when I was bored, but that is the extent of my skills. There was a whole year and half between my Spanish final in 9th grade and this video, but I think I've still got it. I'd say that the most challenging thing about learning and speaking Spanish is the conjugation and the pronunciation. It amazes me how anyone can just conjugate right there on the spot. I don't even think about conjugation until I get a question right on Duolingo, and then I have to mentally think of Aleida's conjugation chart. Pronunciation is also really hard, because Spanish words are similar to English, but then some are pronounced so differently. Outside the classroom, I see myself practicing Spanish with my dad, my future video partners, on Duolingo, and my friends that already took Spanish. My partner was Eleanor Jarvis, and she was such a good partner to work with. She instigated text messages to share notes we took in class, she practiced, and wanted to practice to full y understand before we made the video. I would definitely work with her again. |

Reflection:
I am already good at memorizing my parts. I am almost to the point where I can conjugate in my head and form my own sentences - but in the mean time, I am good at translating on paper and memorizing what we're talking about. I would say that the most challenging thing about learning and speaking Spanish is conjugation, and forming sentences on the spot. There are holes in my sentences because I know how to say that I like something specific like the authors writing (autors escribo) and that the story keeps me occupied (acupado), but I don know all of the words that I need to put before it to make the sentence make sense. Outside of the classroom, I practice Spanish comprehension on the app Duolingo, and I am constantly checking Ms. Aleida´s Apuntes page to check for new Quizlets and new verbs to memorize. My partner for this video was Eleanor Jarvis, and as always, she was a delight. We split the translating down the middle, and she complied everything onto one google doc, texted me the two nights before reminding me to study, and gave her all during the video. |
